The GE35-AX INA is an axial spherical plain bearing. Spherical plain bearings are two-piece plain bearings. They have no rolling elements, but consist of a shaft washer and a housing washer. The shaft washer has a convex surface. The housing washer has a concave inner surface. This construction gives spherical plain bearings their high load carrying capacity and capacity to accommodate misalignment.
The GE35-AX INA has a steel-on-steel sliding contact. Both the outer and inner rings of this bearing are made of steel. Bearings with steel-on-steel sliding contacts are wear-resistant and have a high load carrying capacity. This bearing type requires regular maintenance.
