533 RIV

The 533 RIV is a cup for a single-row tapered roller bearing. This cup is an outer ring that can be combined with a separately available cone (the cage with rolling elements), to form a complete tapered roller bearing. The outer and inner rings have conical raceways and the roller elements are conical as well. This design enables tapered roller bearings to absorb radial and axial forces (in one direction). The greater the angle between the outer ring and the centre line of the bearing, the greater the axial load capacity.

The geometrical qualities of tapered roller bearings prevent sliding movements between the raceways and rollers. This will keep component wear down to a minimum. However, a minimum load is required for proper bearing operation. Because cone and cup are separable, they can easily be mounted. In addition, end play (axial clearance) or preload can be adjusted by moving the components axially during assembly.

For reliable operation of your bearing, it is best to replace cone and cup at the same time. We recommend taking components from the same manufacturer. This prevents bearing problems caused by different internal bearing profiles, differences in material, and in tolerances. Always combine the 533 RIV with a matching cone from the same manufacturer.
